Outcomes

Pre-specified primary and secondary outcomes, including the specific measurement variable (e.g., systolic blood pressure), analysis metric (e.g., change from baseline, final value, time to event), method of aggregation (e.g., median, proportion), and time point for each outcome

Partly met

The primary outcome names its measurement variable and nothing else. No analysis metric, no method of aggregation and no time point is given for it, and the secondary outcomes are listed without any of the four.

Quoted from your manuscript

The primary outcome was self-reported sleep quality, measured with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index.
Secondary outcomes included daytime fatigue, mood, and adherence to the programme.

What to address

For each outcome, state the analysis metric, the method of aggregation and the time point of interest, and say who assessed it. Mark which of the three secondary outcomes were pre-specified in the protocol. Both belong in Methods, under Outcome measures.

Where the paper falls short, before the journal says so.

  1. 01

Upload the manuscript and pick the guideline

Nine guidelines are built in. If your journal or funder has its own form, upload it with the paper and it is read the same way.

  2. 02

Every item is marked against the full text

Each criterion is assessed against the whole manuscript and marked met, partly met, not met or not applicable. Every mark carries the passage it was drawn from. You get an email when the run finishes.

  3. 03

The gaps, and what to write

Every item that falls short comes back with what is missing and where in the paper it belongs. That is the reading you would otherwise wait on a reviewer for. The marked form downloads as a spreadsheet.

Know where you stand before the journal does.
